Essentials By Ellen Winter 2015 Release Blog Hop

Hello Friends!
Welcome to the Winter 2015 Essentials by Ellen Release Blog Hop!  I have two cards to share today showcasing some of the new stamps and dies from this release.

My first card features Wish Big, this is a cute birthday set with a little birdie and hippo image.

I decided to practice some watercoloring when making this little card by heat embossing the images and then coloring with distress ink and water.  I added some color splatters on the woodgrain cardstock base.

My sceond card features the Love You So stamp set and the Folk Hearts dies.  I used new Lawn Fawn inks to stamp out the images from this new stamp set and decorate the heart die cut.

I added some splatters of tarnished brass distress stain and pearl perfect pearl mist on the background layers and added stitching detail around the heart with a gold gel pen.

  1. Love these cards, Chari! I really like the colors and watercoloring in the first card, and the stamping on the love card. The spatters also add a nice bit of visual texture, without being distracting. Thanks for sharing these, and for the giveaway!

  2. I loved the watercoloring on the bird card. You said you wanted to 'practice' your watercoloring but it looks to me like you don't need any practice! The heart shaped card with the love notes along the sides was just lovely (ha). Thanks for sharing your ideas!

  5. I didn't think that little bird holding a telephone (from last release) could get any cuter but he did! I love him holding two balloons and the way you colored him is perfection! I like the splatter on both cards! Great work!

  6. I adore both of these cards! But I have to say, that heart one is stunning. I told myself I didn't need another set or heart dies or stamps, and you've got me second guessing myself on that. Awesome use of those dies and stamps.

  9. Both of these cards are beautiful, but am partial to that adorable birdie from the Wish Big set! I noticed the wood grain card stock used for your second card. I did not know this was heavy enough to stand up as a card base! Thank you for that tip.

  11. I love both of your gorgeous cards! I love the cute little bird holding the balloons! I have been trying watercoloring also. I just get confused on which side to shade. I guess if everything's uniform that it's okay?
