Essentials By Ellen Winter 2015 Release Blog Hop

Hello Friends!
Welcome to the Winter 2015 Essentials by Ellen Release Blog Hop!  I have two cards to share today showcasing some of the new stamps and dies from this release.

My first card features Wish Big, this is a cute birthday set with a little birdie and hippo image.

I decided to practice some watercoloring when making this little card by heat embossing the images and then coloring with distress ink and water.  I added some color splatters on the woodgrain cardstock base.

My sceond card features the Love You So stamp set and the Folk Hearts dies.  I used new Lawn Fawn inks to stamp out the images from this new stamp set and decorate the heart die cut.
I added some splatters of tarnished brass distress stain and pearl perfect pearl mist on the background layers and added stitching detail around the heart with a gold gel pen.

I also get to give away one of these new stamps sets! I’ll be giving away the Love You So stamp set to one lucky commenter, just leave a comment by March 3rd for a chance to win! Winner will be announced March 4th on the Ellen Hutson CLASSroom blog.

There is also a Grand Giveaway in the CLASSroom!  To enter, be sure to leave a comment there, and at every stop along the hop by March 2nd; winners will be announced March 4th! Below is a list of all the stops along the hop!  Next up is Catherine PoolerHappy hoppin’

And here are links to all the new goodies!

  1. Love these cards, Chari! I really like the colors and watercoloring in the first card, and the stamping on the love card. The spatters also add a nice bit of visual texture, without being distracting. Thanks for sharing these, and for the giveaway!

    • aknancy, You are my winner! can you please email me your name/email and shipping info so I can get that information over to Ellen Hutson so they can send our your prize!

  2. I loved the watercoloring on the bird card. You said you wanted to 'practice' your watercoloring but it looks to me like you don't need any practice! The heart shaped card with the love notes along the sides was just lovely (ha). Thanks for sharing your ideas!

  3. Love your cute little cards! They are so sweet! Thanks for the chance to win! ( I was having computer issues and my comment posted mid- typing so I deleted it and re-entered it. Sorry for the double posting!)

  4. Oh, my! These are too darn sweet. Love that watercolor……need to master it. And hearts are my all-time favorite. You sure did this new release of Julie's up fine and dandy (sounds like something she would say, eh?).

  5. I didn't think that little bird holding a telephone (from last release) could get any cuter but he did! I love him holding two balloons and the way you colored him is perfection! I like the splatter on both cards! Great work!

  6. I adore both of these cards! But I have to say, that heart one is stunning. I told myself I didn't need another set or heart dies or stamps, and you've got me second guessing myself on that. Awesome use of those dies and stamps.

  7. Love both your cards. Two different looks for your cards, but each card is special. This is a great new release from Ellen and Julie and I love all that I have seen.

  8. Plain and simple and so pretty. Love the stamping on the heart – leaving room for the sentiment.
That little bird really tugs at my heart – he is so cute and really needs a friend.
    thanks for sharing.

  9. Both of these cards are beautiful, but am partial to that adorable birdie from the Wish Big set! I noticed the wood grain card stock used for your second card. I did not know this was heavy enough to stand up as a card base! Thank you for that tip.

  10. this release is so big. I love your cards and the techniques that you used. I get such inspiration from watching all of you. ( and I get a huge desire for the whole set of goodies) thanks for all that you share with us!

  11. I love both of your gorgeous cards! I love the cute little bird holding the balloons! I have been trying watercoloring also. I just get confused on which side to shade. I guess if everything's uniform that it's okay?

  12. What cute cards, I really love the versatility of this set and the wonderful ways you talented ladies are showing them. Thanks for sharing.
