Hello Friends!
I have some fun Summer cards to share today featuring a new summer pattern called Make A Splash! This new pattern is available for free on the Lawn Fawn website along with four other summer patterns just released.
I couldn’t decide which I liked better the sand or the water so I made both! The Embroidery Hoop Window and Frame Add-On allowed me to incorporate my stitched beach ball into my design so it looks like it is sitting in the sand or the water, whichever you prefer.
The version with sand was my original design. I wanted to bring in the seashells to set the scene. But as I worked on the card and had the idea of adding the splashes and splatters on the back I thought, maybe water would be a good fit as well, like the ball bounced in the water and splashed the shiplap wall behind it.
So surf… and turf it was! I created the shiplap background with the Simple Stripes: Portrait die and White Woodgrain Cardstock! I added a little Lost Shadow Distress ink to the edges before assembling it onto typing paper. Once assembled I could cut the window out of the background for the stitched piece to show through.
I used the paint splatter stencil to create the splashes and Henry’s ABCs for the fun sentiment. Of course, Stardust stickles and chunky glitter add lots of fun sparkle to both cards.
