5 Stenciled Snowflake Cards

Hello Friends!

I feel like it has been awhile since I posted but today I have a rainbow set of cards to share that all feature techniques with the Snowflake Trio Stencil. I had fun experimenting with different things to do with the stencil while making a clean and simple set of cards. There are lot of pictures in this post but there is also a video tutorial if you make it all the way to the bottom. 🙂

For all of these cards I used the same snowflake on the stencil, which was the smallest of the three.

For my first two cards I made a backgrounds with strips of cardstock and die cut them with a stitched rectangle. On the diagonal stripe background I used some pearly white paste through the stencil for my snowflake. For the horizontal stripe background I applied translucent texture paste through the stencil then dumped prisma glitter on it to create my own glitter paste. This is a trick I learned from my friend Jenn Shurkus. I mounted both of these colorful panels on white card bases.

For my next card I ink blended through the stencil to create a rainbow snowflake, then I did the same as before and applied translucent texture paste and prisma glitter over top.  Since the paste is translucent you can see the bright ink colors through it for a glittery rainbow snowflake. For some slight contrast I mounted this on onto a Fog cardstock base.

Card number 4 uses a product that is new to me, Thermoweb Deco Foil Transfer Gel Duo. This gel allows you to do foiling on your projects without needing to use a laminator. You simply let the gel dry and then run it through your die cut machine with the foil. The pressure of the machine will transfer the foil to the gel. I used Rainbow Shattered Glass foil and layered a rectangle of holographic cardstock behind my snowflake panel. I also used a fog cardstock base for this card.

For my fifth and final trick today I made a card that did not use any gel or paste because not everyone has that supply in their stash. But I bet you have some white embossing powder! So for this one I took my clear embossing ink pad directly to the stencil and squished it right onto the paper getting a nice inky snowflake. Then I added the white embossing powder on top and heated it up to melt it. This left me with a shiny white snowflake on my panel. Next I ink blended all the colors of ink over the snowflake which resisted the ink. I buffed off any ink on the embossing with a dry paper towel leaving a bright white flake on a colorful background.

These were super fun to make and I really enjoyed experimenting with different techniques through the stencil. I used the same Joyful Wishes sentiment for all of my cards white embossing it on die cut sentiment banners.

If you want to see how I created all of these cards you can check them out in the video below or HERE on my YouTube channel.

Thanks so much for stopping by today

  2. Im new to your blog, but fell in love with these snowflakes. I like them all, but I think the ink blended glittery snowflake card is my favorite too.
