Today I made two cards! Both play along with the Lawnscaping Challenge Color Splash! I made the first card using Lawn Fawn’s Bake me a Cake and then decided to use the left over paper to make another similar card with my new Sew Lovely stamps! I was going for a retro kind of look with these.
The background paper is from October Afternoon’s Modern Homemaker collection, I distressed it with Antique Linen Distress Ink. The Red frosting is also from the Modern Homemaker paper pad and I colored the cake stand with an Silver American Crafts Metallic Marker.
I kept the second card more simple and let the patterned paper do all the work. The piece I had left over had this great image at the bottom left so I just added my splash of color with the sentiment, ribbon & buttons. I added glossy accents to make the needle shiny.
I think they both turned out rather nice, sort of a different style than I usually create. But that was what I was going for actually. I will be entering these together at Lawnscaping because I think they should remain a pair. Thanks for popping in to check out my creations today!
LOVE the card with the cake! The red is such a perfect pop-color =)
Wow, these are both fantastic – love this look!
Chari, these are too cute! I love both of your cards and that fabulous "retro" style.
Cute idea!
Super cute!! I'm especially loving the birthday cake! I haven't even started on this one yet. Maybe tonight.
These are both so fabulous, Chari! You're right, they're a little different than your usual style, but who says you can't switch things up now and again, right? I love them both! Thanks for playing with us again at Lawnscaping! You know I love it when you do!
