Shoot for the Stars

Hello!
I have a fun card to share with you today using Waffle Flower’s Starry Night Stamp set and the Riverside Die set. I created this design based on the large moon with the sentiment and I wanted to use my new glow in the dark embossing powder to make the moon glow.  I thought it would also be a cool idea to design the card so that the sentiment “appeared” when the glow in the dark was activated.

I embossed the large solid moon with the sentiment using WOW glow in the dark embossing powder on distress watercolor paper.  I masked off the moon so that non of my dark ink would accidentally get into the negative space of the embossing.  Then I applied faded jeans, stormy sky and chipped sapphire distress inks around the moon.  I then added squeezed lemonade distress ink over top of the moon and out into the blue sky.  I love how the distress watercolor paper allows the distress ink to move and blend better than any other paper, it really allowed me to create an amazing glow effect that I’ll admit was a very happy accident!

To finish my sky I stamped the stars in golden glitz delicata and platinum planet brilliance pigment inks.     I used the Lawn Fawn stitched rectangle dies to cut a mat out of citrus slice card stock and the stitched hillside dies to create ground from licorice card stock.  I cut the trees from the black card stock as well and covered them in black diamond stickles for some night time shimmer.

And here is a look at what the glowing effect looks like on this card.  It’s a little hard to photograph but it’s pretty cool in real life.

Thanks for stopping by today!

  1. I love that card. I had seen that glow in the dark embossing powder on Simon Says Stamp website the other day. This is the first card I have seen with it on it. I love it, it would be awesome for kid's cards too. It's going on my wish list for sure now that I have seen how neat it looks on a card. Thanks for show it so we could see it.
