Hello!
I finally made a couple cards the other day just for fun, not for an assignment, yay! I played with some new goodies and tried out some new techniques and just had fun. Here are a couple cards I made using the shell stamp from the Tim Holtz 2015 Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember exclusive set.
I played with my Zig Clean Color real brush pens. I had played with them before on watercolor paper using water to blend and they worked nicely. But my friend Mary Dawn said she liked using hers with Bristol paper so I decided to pick some pads of Bristol up on sale and give it a try. It worked wonderfully. I could blend the pens without water on the paper and I enjoyed this method as well.
Since these are blueprint stamps I wanted to make an actual blueprint background. I clear embossed the stamp on a piece of Bristol paper and then covered it in Blueprint Sketch distress ink. I noticed on the Bristol paper the distress ink doesn’t soak in as much and has a kind of texture look to it. I also tried the same technique on white cardstock which you can see on my second card. I like both looks depending on what you want for your project. To finish off my first card I stamped seashells from Lawn Fawn’s Life is Good set in Doe ink on some craft colored cardstock. I also added a layer of frosted film over the whole card base. It is hard to see in the photograph but it gives is a slight simmer and texture, looks a bit like sand which I felt was appropriate for this card. I added a panel with tattered rose distress ink blended on it to tie in with the pink of the shell and added some wink of stella glitter to the shell to finish it off.
For my second card I stamped the shell on white cardstock and colored it with copic markers before cutting it out. I used the white cardstock panel with blueprint sketch ink for the background on this card, you can see the difference in smoothness of this panel compared to bristol paper panel in the first card.
I wanted to give the cream colored card base a little interest so I stamped the same shell stamp with Soft Vanilla ink to create the patterned background. I added a layer of glossy accents all over the whole shell to get a different look on this card.
Thanks for stopping by today!
