Oh Me, Oh My!

Hi Friends,
Today I have two things to share!  I have a photo tutorial on the Lawn Fawn blog showing how to make a very simple card set.  I am actually house/dog sitting for my parents this week so I made this card set while away from my craft desk using only a few supplies and snapping pics with my phone. 🙂 You can go check it out HERE!

And the second thing to share is this card I made over the weekend. I got a few new goodies and just had to make something with them finally. I have also decided to make it a new goal to use some stamp sets that I have had for awhile but not really put to good use yet.

OhMy

I just got the Jenni Bowlin Jester Border punch from Fiskars & the My Mind’s Eye Dilly Dally Paper pad from the Miss Carolina collection.  This paper pad reminds me of the Fair so I dug out an older stamp set that I haven’t really used and created this fun card.  For the ribbon, I clear embossed the striped ribbon tails on yellow pattern paper, then went over it with distress ink to bring out the image more and give a subtle tone on tone look.  The circular part of the ribbon is embossed in opaque aqua zing embossing powder on the red paper then carefully cut out.  I cut the center out of a coordinating pattern and turned it so the plaid pattern was at an angle.  The edge is inked with pumice stone distress ink to give some definition then popped it up with foam.  I typically don’t use brads in my projects but for this card I created my own coordinating embellishments by punching out some small circles from the paper and layering them behind the brads.

  1. absolutely love this. I am pinning this card. I have a similar ribbon stamp set by Hero Arts that I have not used yet. I think it is called "You're the Best".

  4. This card is fantastic! Love the plaid and the woodgrain together. And I hear you about utilizing some of our currently owned stamp sets! I'm doing the same thing. A self-imposed spending freeze will do that to ya! ;o)

  7. This is too clever. Love the woodgrain paper and how the borders at the top actually look to me like multiple layers of fenceposts on top of the wooden fence. Not sure if that was your intent. Great idea to put the paper circles behind the brads. And perfect placement.
