A little love for St. Jude

Participating the the Lawnscaping Challenge introduced me to some great designers.  I loved blog hopping and seeing everyone’s projects!  I never thought I would start to feel like a part of a group by doing this, but there are such great opportunities you can find by hopping around, for instance the St. Jude’s Card Drive being organized by Winter who participated in the Lawnscaping Challenge as well!  I think the card drive is a fantastic idea, and big thanks to Winter for organizing it!

Valentine’s cards for the St. Jude Card Drive was a great chance to use some new stamps too!

For the Little Love Apple card I used my brand new Cuttlebug to emboss the dot background.  I think I am already in love with my Cuttlebug even though I have used it only twice.  I had to color the apple and the sentiment from Lawn Fawn’s My Silly Valentine set red because well Red is an awesome color! So it inspired me to use one of my favorite color combinations.  The red and white really pop with the black accent ribbon.  I just love Red & White…Go NC State! 🙂

For my Swirly Cutie Pie card I used the Pie and matching sentiment from the My Silly Valentine set as well.  I tried my hand at some subtle distressing of the swirly background, distressing the edges and using antique linen distress ink.  I paper pieced some brown paper for the pie crust and added a little sugar on top with Martha Stewart coarse crystal glitter.  Even pies deserve some sparkle!

I purchased this I {Heart} Hearts set from Stampin Up last winter, but have never used it, until now.  I’m very happy with how the grouping of various sized, patterned & colored hearts came together on the white background.  This simple design called for a simple sentiment and I think the hugs and kisses from Lawn Fawn’s Sophie’s Sentiments works perfectly.!

  1. Chari, these cards are absolutely, positively adorable! I love them all!

You know, you were talking about how participating in the Lawnscaping challenge helped you feel more like part of a community. You don't know how much that touches my heart. In my real life, I don't know any other papercrafters, but I've made so many wonderful friends through blogging.

Your blog is seriously cute, I LOVE that little badge of Penny! I bet she's as sweet as you are. :o)
