Hello! Welcome to the Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember® celebration! What is STAMPtember® you may ask? Well, STAMPtember® is defined by Simon Says Stamp as an event intended to inspire, educate, and celebrate our community of stampers. Simon Says Stamp has released exclusive products for STAMPtember which you can find HERE. And they will also have special surprises all month long, including exclusive collaboration stamp sets with your favorite companies (psst, you won’t want to miss the Lawn Fawn set, it’s super fun!) But we will save Lawn Fawn for another day. Today I have cards to share with one of the new stamp sets from Simon Say Stamp called Birthday borders.
Both have a rainbow theme but very different techniques. For the card on the left, I used mini ink cubes and my MISTI stamping tool to ink up portions of the candles and sentiment to get a gradient effect. I would stamp each color then make sure I overlapped the next color when inking up the stamp. For the background, I took the same inks, smooshed me onto a craft mat, added water and flicked the ink onto white woodgrain cardstock. I also added yellow stickles to the flames for added interest.
The card on the right uses an emboss resist technique. I stamped the sentiment and candles with embossing ink and used clear embossing powder. Once melted this embossing will resist the ink so only the white paper shows where the image is. I used a rainbow of distress ink colors to create the rainbow gradient and finished it off with some flecks of white gold metallic watercolor. I love how bright and happy both of these turned out.
