Hello Cards

Today I have a couple simple hello cards to share. These cards can be made using any supplies you have in your stash along with a sentiment craft die.  This first card uses die cuts layered with the addition of fibers and ribbon for texture.

First step is to die cut the sentiment from two different shades of card stock, this will allow you to create the shadow look behind the sentiment and make it stand out more.  I used the hello craft die from Studio Calico.

Add liquid glue to the back side of the top die cut.  Be sure not to add too much glue, just enough to allow the pieces to stick together but not so much that it will squeeze out the side when pressed together.

Layer the two die cuts together by off setting them, shift the top layer to one side and up to create the shadow effect.

Next I created my card base, I choose to use a cream colored card stock then picked out a nice woodgrain pattern paper from the Wanderlust collection that adds some nice faux texture to the card base.

After trimming the pattern paper down to fit the card adhere the die cut sentiment.  I like to use my tweezers to hold delicate pieces like this when placing them on my cards.

Next I picked out some fibers from my stash that I thought went well.  I choose a crocheted cream colored ribbon to match the card base.  This light color adds texture and interest without distracting from the darker sentiment.

I cut this ribbon down to a width that fit my card better by clipping the thin latter stitching through the center.

I also found some burlap twine that also goes well with the wood paper.  I wrapped it around the card multiple times and tied it in a bow to one side.  Finally I added a few embellishments.  I picked out some star sequins in colors that matched colors found in the pattern paper and used multi medium in matte to adhere them to the card base. I used Studio Calico Color Theory sequins in Sunny Day, Mint Hint and Orange County.

Here is another idea using the same die but using the negative space instead.  This card is created with a basic white card base with a negative die cut openings and layers of paper behind it.  I used papers from South of Market and woodgrain star sequins.
