Christmas Countdown: Day 1 – Copper Snowflakes

There are only 12 days until Christmas, do you have all your shopping done? I sure don’t.  To celebrate the season I thought I would count down the days until Christmas by hopefully sharing a holiday themed project each day.  I also have a little game to play with you each day as well. 🙂  So let’s get started!

I thought it only appropriate to share a card that I feel is very Joy like since we celebrated her birthday yesterday (well actually if she was in the US we would be celebrating today).  I didn’t have a plan when I started (which is unusual for me) so I just played around with some new goodies and went where my creativity took me.  I am more than pleased with the results and I think it may be one of my new favorite cards!

I just love the colors.  I started by playing with the Iced Spruce distress ink and applied it to the white cardstock panel with a blending tool. I inked the snowflake with iced spruce as well, spritzed with some perfect pearls mist, and stamped it for that tone on tone look.  It’s was hard to catch the slight shimmer of the perfect pearls mist in my photograph. After matting my spruce panel with cream cardstock I struggled with the what to do for the background but experimented with the perfect pearls metallic pigment and decided it would be perfect.  I applied the perfect bronze pigment powder so the snowflakes using the perfect medium that came in the kit.  I wanted to keep the sentiment small and simple, so since I was feeling Joy inspired, Joy it is! I stamped the sentiment with white pigment ink and then applied the perfect pearl pigment to it for some shine.  Accidental discovery was adding a bit of the pearl pigment on top of the bronze gave it a cool variegation so I added some of that in a couple places too (you can see it just under the bow on the far left of the card)  The ribbon was recycled from packaging around a photo album I got as a gift.  Oh and I finished it off with some silver gems, more inspiration from the bling queen herself! 🙂

I think I will enter this in the Holiday challenge currently going on at Wee Memories.  It also fits very well with Simon Says Stamp‘s challenge too, probably because the lovely Joy made the inspiration collage.

Now for a little game!  I’ll leave a couple questions each day for you to ponder.  Feel free to leave the answers in the comments if you like.  This is just something fun for the holidays.  All questions are related to Christmas songs.

1.  Where would you go to hear Silver Bells?
2.  Who was it that danced with the silk hat on
his head?

I can hear you all singing the songs now to find the answers. 🙂  Come back tomorrow for another project and some more quiz questions!  Thanks for stopping by! I hope you all have a lovely day!

  2. gorgeous!!

No idea who has a silk hat, but it's a fashion faux-par so they'd better sell it lol The silver bells, I'm thinking pretty sidewalks, city sidewalks dressed in holiday style, would be the location 🙂
