Hello Friends!
Today I have a fun project to share. Every summer a part of my family goes camping. “Cousins Camping” has been a yearly tradition since 1993 so this year will be our 28th year. We started when my smallest cousins were very small and the group has grown as we have gotten older, gotten married, had kids, etc. Today I wanted to share a fun way to use the Lawn Fawn Forest Backdrop die as a picture frame for you photographs. What better photos to frame with a forest than camping photos right?
Each uses different colored pattern paper from the Watercolor Wishes Rainbow collection but since the frame design is the same on each page there is a nice consistency throughout the project. I cut all the frames from one 12×12 piece of blue Watercolor Wishes Rainbow paper. Because of the different shades in the stripes each frame is slightly different in color and pattern.
Each page is 6″ wide by 4 1/4″ tall so that the Forest Backdrop fits perfectly with 1/2″ left over for the binding side. On this second page I changed it up a bit with some pink pine trees which I think are very cute. This year my cousin carved a bird into linoleum to make a big stamp and made all of us girls matching bird shirts. I think you can tell by this picture that the girls very much outnumber the boys. 🙂 Fun fact: it’s all girls this side of the family, the boys are just the husbands!
When you watch the video tutorial you will see I had a gap between my photo and my frame to cover up on this page, which is why I decided to incorporate the birch tree dies into my pages. This one conveniently covers the gap and adds even more interest to the frame. I added the sentiment banner to cover some of the extra dark space above our heads in this pictures and I think it works very well to bring the focus back to the people in the photo.
I had the same problem to fix on this page but the gap was at the top, so I incorporated the sentiment banner as a continuation of the one on the previous page. I also added the lantern from the Build A Campsite die set. I love how this added detail balances out the page.
You can check out how these album pages came together in the video tutorial below or HERE on my YouTube channel.
As I mentioned before stay tuned for another tutorial soon, in which I will create the album cover using some of my favorite Lawn Fawn stamps! Thanks so much for stopping by today!
